Germination: Approximately 14 days after planting. The entire germination process should take 30 days to complete. Early spring or late fall planting may take longer. Germination time will also be direcfly affected by soil temperature, air temperature, and moisture.
Traffic: No traffic, including animals, until after the 3rd mowing. Do not drag garden hose across mulch blanket during sprinkler repositioning. lf you must walk on it make sure to not disrupt the mulch blanket.
Water: lf no Rain, Water daily until full germination. Water enough to keep the soil moist at all times. increased frequency and durations during hot and windy weather will be needed. It’s best to water during early morning hours. Make sure there is no pooling or running of water. lf water starts to pool or run then the duration is too long. You may have to alter to more frequency and shorter duration.
Mow: Once the grass is 3" tall it's time to mow. Make sure the blade is sharp and the deck is clean. Do not cut off more than a 113 of the grass blade each mowing. Continue to mow as needed to a height of 2 to 2.5 inches. The removal of all clippings is recommended.
Fertilize: is critical to fertilize your lawn after your 1st mowing. Apply every 6-8 weeks during the growing season of February to November. Use a seasonal appropriate fertilizer and apply per manufacturer recommendations
Weed Control: Our seed is Certified "Weed Free", but dirt is not. lf weeds appear, do not apply weed control products for 3 months or 3 mowings, whichever comes first after germination. At that time weeds may be spot sprayed with a weed control herbicide safe for lawns. Hand pulling weeds while they're juvenile is recommended during this time period.

Hydroseeding
The best times for hydroseeding in Albany, NY are Spring and Fall. Both are wet enough and moderately cool, creating an ideal environment for seeds to grow. Plan to hydroseed your lawn early in either season. Your lawn will grow stronger and become better established the longer it has before harsh winter or summer weather begins. The hydroseeding timeline does depend on the weather, but typically, hydroseeded lawns will begin to sprout in 5-7 days. For the next several weeks, they require more care than a regular lawn.

At least 2-3 inches of nutrient rich top soil raked to final grade is required before hydroseeding to ensure germination.
If you have an existing lawn, we highly recommend that you rip it up completely and bring in fresh loam. You can power thatch your existing lawn to churn up any loose or dead grass and then rake it up and bring in at least 2-3 inches of fresh loam. As said above, we do highly recommend getting rid of all the pre-existing dead grass to get the best results so the new seed can germinate to its full potential.

Make sure that all areas are hit evenly and accurately so no seed is deprived of water

Be prepared to adjust your sprinkler according to the weather. (Extreme heat will need more water; if it rains a lot make sure to not over water with the sprinkler)
3. Watering
After 3 weeks your new lawn is ready and should be fertilized. Either hire a professional or go to your local home depot and pick up a fertilizer with no weed killer in it. Make sure you do not use weed killer on your lawn for at least 3 months.
